Sleepless in Harrow

Tuesday October 26th, 2004 at 7:10am

Fucking busy day yesterday. Code merge starting at 11am this morning made me a bit late leaving last night (7pm!) - Still, the UI is looking kinda presentable now - good thing... Got to Dan’s in time for him to be halfway through a 4 hour conversation with his girlie. Demanding to know if she loved him. He only met her Thursday...*sigh* Decided to stay at his as it’s closer to work and it was about 11pm and would have taken me more than an hour to get home. Both slept badly. He wasn’t feeling too well and it was too hot : ’( Got up at 7:30. Got to work at 8:30. Rah : D So very tired. The merge is in progress. I am now officially bored.

Uh. OK.

Monday October 25th, 2004 at 7:37am

I have come to the conclusion I am not happy with any of my current choices in life. I need some stability in my life, I need to feel right again. I need to make some hard choices. I also need to get away a bit I think. Am considering France to visit James next month. I think I may stop drinking/smoking again. It eats up too much of my time. I was in a bad way Friday night after my comedy phone bill - and a crap week at work - and all I got for it was a £100 hole in my wallet and a sore head on Saturday. Feels again like I’ve had a single day weekend. After some bollocks Saturday that I really don’t want to go into, I’ve decided I can’t be arsed with a few things that left me a bit broken. Didn’t go out Saturday night - Dominic was OK about it but Chris sulked some. Instead watched lots of Buffy with Adam providing hugs. Sal popped over, ostensibly to see me, but actually I think because it was raining and he was wet and I have the internet. Finished the Buffy marathon on Sunday, Adam headed off to Ben and Ali’s place and I bummed around online and then got bored and watched the rest of “Lost” Very impressed so far : D Short week this week - off Thurs & Friday, so frantic work and then Swan on Weds... Bumped into TJ at Sean & Joe’s on Friday night. Hideous tacky bar but nice to see him. Said he’s coming on Weds too : )

WooFuckingHoo

Friday October 22nd, 2004 at 15:16pm

I just got a mobile bill for £450! Right. Listen carefully, I shall say this only once... I bought, two weeks ago, a 3G GPRS Datacard thing. Subscribed to the Orange Mobile Office 400 Service Plan on my existing account and hey presto, I figure I have 400mb to fritter away. My billing date is the 19th So I get my bill, and discover I’ve used 133.333333 mb of my allocation, and the rest is chargeable. At £1.49 per mb (or something ridiculous) And that I’ve actually used 659 megabytes, not the 396 the Orange Dashboard Megabyte Counter said I had... I phone up a lovely sounding Irish man at Orange’s billing centre who expresses admiration at the amazing figure for my bill then puts me on hold for a few weeks as he tries to sort this out... He gets back to me and tells me that the data plan is only for 3G coverage, if you drop out of 3G and onto GPRS you’re not covered and therefore are paying per megabyte. IF this is true, I wasn’t told about it and can find no reference to it anywhere...what legs do I have to stand on? I have a 14day money back guarantee. I’m tempted to take the card back, as if this is the case then its not suited for the purpose for which it was sold to me. Pretty fucking pointless if I can only use the free bundle in 3G areas... Although looking at the figure used (133.3333etc) I can’t help but think that maybe they’ve done the 400mb pro rata as well as the charge for it (as they’ve only charged me 15 instead of 45 for the service plan). This was absolutely not made clear to me at all or even mentioned anywhere when I got it. So...er...help? The second problem I have with this is the total data transfer. Orange claim this is 659.12 meg I used the inbuilt metering on Orange’s 3g Dashboard application to measure it very carefully to 396 meg. It has a built in megabyte counter...and I have no idea what the discrepancy is or where it’s come from...surely their software can’t be *that* wrong? Though it did differ wildly from the modem thing on windows... I am so very happy about all this. Very happy. I am going to shout at them in the shop tomorrow. And if all else fails I’m going to try something fun involving a red hot poker...

Anotherball!

Friday October 22nd, 2004 at 7:35am

I appear to be in an odd mood. Again I have this feeling I should run off and do stuff. Again I suspect that by tonight I will be far too knackered and all I will want is a nice pint and some fags. I need to do some work on freakcity, but finding motivation will be hard...most of the time at the moment I don’t want to look at a computer ; ) I’m having a bit of a downloadfest at the moment...Have so far acquired the latest American dross and much much more. Might delete Buffy from the server as I have it on DVD now. So I’ve been thinking about this p2p lark and how record companies are being affected by it - I conclude that they are barking up the wrong tree. If they invest in worthwhile artists then produce something of note and value from them...well. Morrissey is in the top 10 at the moment *because* Morrissey fans see what he has produced as having value....they will buy every single in every format and the album. Morrissey isn’t in the top ten because he’s become more popular, I suspect it’s because people are buying less dross and just swapping it on p2p. That said, this is his best album since “Your Arsenal”, even though only about half the songs are any good... Got home at a half decent time last night. Again, the day after the release and I manage to fix most of the annoying bugs that were irritating me yesterday. Most of which were caused by java developers’ crap understanding of HTML. Gah! Downloaded “Lost” - Heard many good things about it, not least that David Fury ("They got the must-aaa-rd ooo-ut") is a writer for it. They’ve released a “Smile Time” Angel puppet! I want one! It’s all floppy and has a moving mouth and everything ; ) Anyway - Lost is really quite good. The grandeur of the opening episode is almost filmic and am looking forward to seeing the next few to see where they go from here. Am also downloading Carnivale as it looks intriguing... Sat night am taking Adam (and possibly Dominic) to XXL - Chris should be there - has promised me a huge hug as I’ve not seen him in aaages...should be fun! Might try and see Dan tonight if he’s not busy shagging... Urg. They’re playing shitty xmas strings music in Hammersmith station. I hate this time of year. So yeah. Most of the tube journeys for the last two days have been lost to Anotherball - a palm clone of Arkanoid/Breakout I may have to buy it...I’ve finished the first four levels : D

In good news, I won a libretto high performance battery In bad news I lost a 32mb ram upgrade by 2p eBay is full of ups and downs. Maybe it’s a metaphor for life... Mr Battery Man posted it a couple of days ago so should arrive today. He also has a Wifi card for a tenner, so I might get that for the libretto too. As it’s so ickle and cute and adorable. Then I shall slap linux on it and groove muchly ; )

OH MY GOD! THE TUBE IS LATE! THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!

Thursday October 21st, 2004 at 7:52am

Work was terribly dull. Terribly. But what’s new. Got to interview some bloke. Seemed OK, but based in Essex. For fun ; ) He had the world’s smallest CV - and the interview ended with me an Rach giving him CV tips...was most amusing... Finished almost on time and got home feeling wiped out. Was going to do some work but was too knackered so ended up watching Enterprise 4.02 and Galactica 1.01 Galactica wasn’t as bad as it could have been. Very odd storyline, guess they’re trying to do something different. No personal development whatsoever and a bit of pseudo god bollocks. Got to watch pretty CGI though by the same people that did Firefly, so not *all* bad. And the Enterprise episode was almost good, until the “let’s make everything back the way it was” timeline shifting bollocks at the end. Was half expecting Dean Stockwell to pop out of the mess with a big cigar... Pointless trivia - Donald P Bellisario links the two as he created Quantum Leap and was involved in the original Battlestar Galactica ; ) So yeah. Got up to fuck all and went to bed early. Dan meeting two women at Liverpool St today (the slag ; )) - so I told him last night to come over and stay at mine, as I’m way nearer Liverpool St than him, but he declined. And then when he asked me to order him a cab I told him to get the bus and he declined too. So I ordered him a cab for 8:15 How right am I? It still hadn’t arrived by 9:15 and he’s very late now. Bless ; )

Interviewtastic!

Wednesday October 20th, 2004 at 14:04pm

Fairly productive day yesterday - plenty of work done, not too many frustrations, the UI for the main flow at least looks pretty damn fine, tho I looked at Modify/Cancel this morning and nearly exploded. Oh well, that can be fixed as a bug in UAT ; ) Still...didn’t get out of work until 6:30...went to Dan’s as it’s far nearer than mine...yay. Tho tubes were fucked and so it took ages. Ate hotwings en route (nawty) and arrived in time for Dan to throw *more* friend chicken at me as he’d bought enough for us both. So all in all a terribly unhealthy evening. Actually got some sleep too. And woke up to find I had no hidden trousers or anything. Bless ; ) Bus took forever. Tube also took forever. Plus I’d run out of PayG credit so I had to queue, all this conspired to me getting into work on the dot of 9:30. Grr! Stuff went slow this morning, thankfully we managed to push back the build from 11 to a bit later so most of the stuff is finished... Dan’s still feeling ill. Dunno what to do about him...short of march him to a doctors’ Sleepy. Lots of work to do for Jo£o tonight, plus some KHRP stuff. Need to get some serious sleep in too. Have promised Dan I’ll help him clean his flat at the weekend, might make him feel a bit better. Maybe there’s something mouldy in there that’s making him ill... Have an interview for a new developer to do in half hour. Due to a misunderstanding between me and my boss it appears we’re interviewing someone we don’t really want to see. Oh well, I’ve not done an interview before, so it should be a giggle ; )

Hollow man

Tuesday October 19th, 2004 at 12:21am

In dreaming we are complete Yet dreams bring me pain Shards of light through the dark That illuminate the past It feels so real it hurts And I can think of nothing more But you, your face, your words Even though they aren’t real Emptiness fills my heart Where once you used to live My pain it burns my life I have nothing more to give Without you I feel hollow I cannot love at all It feels like it’s all ending I’m on borrowed time Mediocrity rules my life What has become of me? A small flickering flame Against the dark wind Fragile and lost in the night I can’t work out how to fix it To stay bright, stay alive Stay me But time treads on weary tracks Life rumbles on and on Pain is dulled Along with my ability to care And I go on regardless I have always been here I will always be here Alone

Ohmy

Tuesday October 19th, 2004 at 7:24am

Went out Friday night for a couple of pints, as no-one could manage Bremner, Bird and Fortune...drinks with work people, new barmaid at the Cornwall who couldn’t pull a pint to save her mother. Sprayed the people waiting at the bar with London Pride, bless. Fucked off to Retro for a bit, avoided the hundreds of people trying to get me to go to the sauna and the dirty old men called Admcg asking me where “the boy” was, then went to see Dan. Fresh back from Scotland with cash, he’d been out buying things and amongst other stuff had a plasma ball, spotlight and lava lamp thing with shiny silver bits in. Didn’t do that much apart from sit online on Saturday Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure was on telly so we watched that, and I arranged to take Dominic from the other week to XXL as he’d never been before. Left Dan’s at about 5 - have discovered that if I walk to the end of his road there’s a bus to South Harrow - much easier : D The scab has come off my toe. It still hurts some but at least it looks normal now ; ) Got home at 7ish, had a long bath, picked Dominic up from the station and took him back to the flat - he doesn’t watch TV much so I showed him some League of Gentlemen - he seemed to like it. After a slightly embarassing “cum in eye” incident, and waving at Dan on cam, got ready to go out. Sal (vervain) had popped over to see Dan, who had hurt his foot at the gym and was being a bit of a dramaqueen about it ; ) XXL was cool. Bumped into a few internet types there. Daniel was there too, which was nice as I’ve not seen him in ages... Left at about 1am as we were both knackered and Dominic had work in the morning. Woken on Sunday at 7 by Dominic leaving, thought “fuck it” and got up. Chatted online for a bit. Sal was telling me he likes Dan but that he’s hard work, and that he was such a good boy and behaved. I took that with a pinch of salt ; ) Got bored and so then went a wandering - Gadgetshop EVIL...almost bought *another* camera. Oopsie. Went over to Dan’s with Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey and we watched it all. He was feeling ill so I stayed over...he didn’t want me to go in in the morning so hid my trousers and turned off my alarm. Told me that Sal hadn’t exactly behaved as opposed to been turned down. *snigger* Woke at 7 on Monday - After a brief search retrieved my trousers (from the fridge) and hid his fags (*snigger*) and fucked off to work. Got there at Eight fucking fifteen. Went to Benjy’s and bought brekkie as I couldn’t face the office at that time. Had had fuck all sleep so wasn’t very awake at all. Dan woke up and asked me how long it’d taken me to find my trousers. I said about 10 minutes. He asked me what made me look in the fridge. I said “the fact it has a door”. Then I asked him if he’d found his fags yet. “WHAT!?” he replies and then sulks at me more. Told me he was annoyed with me for going to work. Tsk. Had my quarterly review. Went shittily. Some was a little unfair, some wasn’t, mostly it was down to me being ill and stressed and feeling shitty for the last 3 months or so. Hoping to make some time up on it, finish some more objectives and get back into everyone’s good books... Left at 5:30 as I was shattered. For a change got the tube to Aldgate East then bussed to home. Was in for 6:30. Adam and Ben (bromleyben) arrived at just the wrong moment and after much embarassment we settled down for an evening of TV and pizza and chatting. Watched lots of Dangermouse. Giggled muchly. Went to bed with laptop and chatted confusingly with Dan. Went to sleep. Dreamt of James. Dreamt that I’d met him in Canary Wharf and we’d got chatting and that he was single again and I was single and I told him I missed him and he stopped talking to me completely and left. Woke up feeling shit

Am sat here bored on the District Line, which appears to have stopped. No idea why. Grr. My dreams of being on time have been shattered by LUL Did my first webmastery bits for the icon website last night. João sucks at HTML *giggle*. Now my name is up there as webmaster... He left me a flame on gaydar on my new profile whilst I was asleep. Aww When I first met him I did a google search on his band name and came back with 800 hits - tried it again this morning and got 1300 hits - I think the word is getting out...excellent!

Energy. Yeah!

Friday October 15th, 2004 at 7:20am

I may sound like it, but officially I have decided I no longer feel like death. And I didn’t wake up feeling knackered either, which can only be a good thing. Dan bought a new webcam yesterday and so waved at me from the airport. Said he kept getting funny looks... Halo 2 has been hax0red and thieved by nice people. Redmond is annoyed. Yay. Meant to be seeing Bremner, Bird and Fortune tonight, 5 tickets and still not sure who I’m going with... Decided with Jonny to redevelop the UI for hotels a bit yesterday as we decided it was crap. So I’m going to play a bit ; ) Almost managed to do the washing up yesterday...but not quite...still, I managed to buy gas and eat far too much chinese takeaway...I am so classy it hurts... I’ve found this ickle all you can eat chinese place in Shepherd’s Bush, see, and it does takeout for £3 - all you can cram into a shiny tin...it’s yum... thedude is apparently buying a flat! Was telling me he’s all excited - 2 bed, garage, garden...sounds nice! I so need to buy somewhere now... Chatted to Owen on the phone for about an hour about pointless things...showed him round hotels and tried to show him round CSR but my copy was broken...he seemed impressed - his site may actually finally go live today! Need to find out from Adam if him and Ollie are coming tonight. Need to find out if footle is coming too. Then need to find myself someone to take as well, as I have 5 tickets... Just noticed that Mike, who runs www.Mediclad.com is sat next to me : D Photo in the Metro of David Bowie looking awfully scary. When will people learn that moustaches just DON’T WORK, unless as part of a tasteful van dyke...I shall rummage and try and find a picture... Not 100% convinced that Bush will win the election now. Am suspecting that the “was Bush wired” thing is a red herring planted by Bush’s camp to divert from how much he sucked at the head to head with Kerry. I’d need to be in the states to get a fair idea, but I think Kerry is slowly gaining ground... Comedy headline from the Metro today has to be “Sleepwalking Woman Has Sex With Strangers” - Am suspecting they’re turning into the National Enquirer... Maybe I should subscribe to Fortean Times for a laugh... : D

How full can a tube get?

Thursday October 14th, 2004 at 7:54am

Server was down all day yesterday - seems iptables broke a bit so it was dropping everything ever. Damn secure firewall ; ) Spent half hour on the phone at lunch talking Adam through various ways to poke it but was ultimately foiled by his inability to type letters as I spoke them on the phone... Got home and cleaned up some. Will do more in gaps between work. Something in POM is breaking iptables when it compiles, so am going to try and work it out later. Changed passwords. Which was probably a good idea anyway. Am upgrading to Core 2 as well... Shit weather. Dan’s in Scotland earning money. It’s Thursday so the week’s almost over. Brokenness prevented me from getting everything done yesterday. Grr. Dan’s back tonight. Not sure if he wants to see me or not yet. Why are men so complicated? the “toor” user seems to have been randomly suing to other people - I noticed james(og) had logged in so mailed him - wasn’t him logging in...he’s changed all his passwords anyway. Sorta had a sensible conversation with him too...which is probably a good thing...

Broken!

Wednesday October 13th, 2004 at 7:46am

My firewall appears to have broken. D’oh. As a result I seem to have acquired a new friend from skynet. Grr. Forward chains were working, so I didn’t notice, but drop had broken. Work was kinda ok...obligatory copy keys amusement...but lots done. Still didn’t finish until 6:30 though. Meant to go see Dan, but things didn’t work out like that - Adam was home, so had pizza and watched more of Dune with him. Chatted a bit online whilst trying to rid myself of my new found friend...there was some suspicious smb activity there, so it could have been that I guess. Chkrootkit showed nothing though. Grr. Dune looks surprisingly dated, considering. I think it’s the lights, ya know. João has learned to edit HTML : D Reading Wired yesterday...a team of Australian artists are trying to grow a coat out of living cells - and apparently are getting people upset with their work because they are disturbed by the ethics of it. Presumably the same people who are ok with the ethics of killing whole animals for their skin, right? Beckham has taken to wearing cardigans. *titter*. Someone tell anandamide : D

Morning!

Tuesday October 12th, 2004 at 7:24am

Fucking hell the weather is shite at the moment... Do I take holiday this year or carry 5 days over? Decisions, decisions... João wants to be taught how to run the band website - he’s figured out how to do text changes (it’s hardly rocket science, no need for Dr Bob ; )) and I’m sure he’ll ask me for flash changes too...Plus he told me my new haircut is fucking sexy : D Shall have to take a pic and bung it on here... Told me last night he’s moving to London to finish his Masters next year. Yay! Work actually went well yesterday. Should actually be ready for tomorrow’s build an everything...copy keys, designs, wireframes...all there... : D Dan joined freakcity at some silly time in the morning - dantheman - he was feeling a bit down yesterday, hoping he’ll be a bit better today after a good night’s sleep. Phoned Orange about the 3G card - they said to ignore the “connected at” speed (which is always 115.2kbps) and read the speed on the “dashboard” application as that was the actual speed it was running at. And that the “connected at” speed is just the speed at which the card talks to the PC. I did ask how the card can transfer data at higher speeds than it can talk to the PC, but they didn’t appear to know the answer...tards... My back still hurts lots. Grr. Worked until 7 last night. Might be another late one tonight too. Build at 11am tomorrow. Christopher Reeve died yesterday and the Metro have chosen to remember him by printing a photo of him that makes him look like Dr Evil. Bastards. Good god Maggie Thatch is looking old. Let’s hope there’s not much time left, eh?

Feeling a bit better! Yay!

Monday October 11th, 2004 at 7:17am

This weekend I did three things... 1) Went to the City of Quebec with Dan 2) Got him a 3g datacard on my Orange account as he can afford it and it’ll almost give him broadband 3) Had a birthday party And I’m now listening to Morrissey’s amusingly titled “All the Lazy Dykes” The Quebec is fun. In a scary kinda way. Dan got ID’d 3 times (*snigger*) - full of old poofs and rentboys. Dan took me down to the dancefloor (!!) - I wasn’t even aware there was one! It was playing some kind of ’70s/’04 hybrid thing. Was at that point that Dan was IDd for standing near the bar. The fun! The party was fun though. Dan was a bit nervous about going but had fun in the end. Loads of people there, some of whom were annoying but we ignored them...Owen got bought a pr0n DVD. And a bottle of wine from Paparazzi Daniel which Daniel gave to me as Owen hadn’t turned up at this point and Daniel hadn’t realised it was my birthday party too... Was nice to see Alexi and John again - not seen them in ages, Lexi told me to come see him in Cambridge - might take him up on that. Met mr_bump for the first time. nikki came too, which was nice...and fruitbat tried to snog me for a change. Grr. Left at just before 11 as was knackered. Bleh. Still, a weekend of sobriety and doing very little has helped I think. My sore throat has almost gone and my head feels a bit better. Am hoping that this means my cold will finally fuck right off and leave me alone... My back, however, hurts like fuck. Grr. Orange shop to get 3G datacard. Got one. Shop boy assumed Dan was my son. Dan spent the rest of the day calling me “Daddy”. Grr. Cor. Unattended Tesco bag just removed from the tube. Wonder if I’m gonna die of Anthrax poisoning now... So Dan’s now mobile. Went to get haircuts yesterday and he took his laptop. Webcamming with Kerry in the back of the cam to the station. Sad fucker ; ) Cor. Am at Hammersmith before 9!

Cripes! Commuting backwards is shite

Thursday October 7th, 2004 at 7:45am

Looong day at work. So much to do before 5pm tomorrow. Project managers getting in a flap. Fun Fun Fun! Chris is leaving work to go travelling the world. Lucky sod! So now Rach has to find a night that we can all manage to say byebye. The search continues... Left work roughly on time and got a bus to Shepherd’s Bush to meet Dan and his mate Britney. Still not sure if that’s her porn name or not ; ) Went to Retro, where Dan got IDd (*snigger*) and Britney, who is 18 but younger than him, didn’t. He seemed unimpressed until he got hooked on Breakout on the table game. Some people had too much time on their hands as a kid... Neither him or I were drinking so we settled for getting Britney drunk on Malibu and Coke. Somewhat helped by a drunk Jimmy who was apparently buying her doubles. Nawty. After a small drama and many evil glares from a nosey gossip queen we fucked off and I took ’em back to Northolt. Sorta didn’t get around to leaving in time for my train so sorta stayed the night. We were being a bit silly with phones, logged on to mantalk or some other chat line and posed as a TV called Katie from America in London...got talking to a very exciteable bloke in the Thistle at Charing Cross...and collapsed in fits of giggles. Oh how childish. But hey ; ) Bugger all sleep, but got up on time, ordered a cab for quarter to eight, left the flat. Stood outside the flat for FORTY FIVE FUCKING MINUTES waiting for the cab. Grr. 10mins late for work. Rah! And now my back hurts unbelievably and I have no idea why : (

Cough cough splutter

Wednesday October 6th, 2004 at 7:05am

Am using my Palm NAKED as I keep forgetting to put a new plastic thing on the screen. The Palm is naked, not me, that is. Long day at work on Monday, not helped by feeling crap and being knackered after Sunday. Daniel, the guy I did pics of on Sunday, had told me he’d meet me @ Waterloo after dropping off his girlies. So got home to a message from spiritusmundispit requiring my prescence at Retro (happens once a week or so ; )) so I figured I could wait there anyway. as it’s 10 mins walk to Waterloo. So found smee and sipped soda water with him. He’s trying to set up a studenty club night every Monday night at the Swan, which could be a huge giggle I reckon...so caught up on gossip I wandered down to Waterloo to encounter Dan and the scary girls. It was like being in a live version of FaceParty chat, in an amusing way ; ) Headed back to mine ostensibly to do more pics but entirely failed to manage it at all. The saga of the girls continued. Slept really amazingly craply. Woo! Coughing kept me awake much of the night, so ended up having *another* day off work. Grr. Yay! Burberry Man, the Fragrance! Now you can look *and* smell like a chav! Codeine Linctus advised from my lovely doctor and feeling a little better I ended up entertaining Dan and the saga of the girls again. And having a food fight. And fixing his phone, etc. Fun evening ; ) Smess invited me to the Swan but wasn’t really up for it. Too knackered. Tube+DLR back from Dan’s is as quick as the cab was on Sunday. Heh. And a tenth the cost ; ) Bleh! Forgot to brush my teeth. My mouth smells. Grr. Back at work today. Probably for loads of work. Urg. Still feel crap.

Dan’s got a date with a girl today. She’s bringing a friend. *comedy*. He flaps so much. Right now he’s either still stuck in traffic and aiming to get there for an hour ago or he’s having group sex in a station toilet. I can never tell... He’s gonna try an get rid of them by 6ish then find me and we can cackle about it somewhere : ) ...just phoned. I says “Did you find them?” he says “That’s correct.” pauses then says “Don’t ask” and giggles...says he’ll talk to me tonight ...*snigger*

Old. Cor!

Monday October 4th, 2004 at 7:25am

So I’ve not written in a week because I’m rubbish and only ever write this when I’m commuting. Bah. So sue me! I’ve mostly been feeling crap for a week - which is a pisser, as I’ve been off work on holiday all week and felt about as lively as a wet fish. Am on time this morning - cool - though it’s raining, which means the District Line is being randomly shite and I may or may not be punctual for work. Plus I’m knackered, but more of that later... Friday Arranged to meet a lovely guy called Dominic after work - couple of pints after work and then back to mine. Felt crap but managed OK considering I was knackered. Damn he’s fit. So much for being off chicken... Saturday was the day of ref:Mother Arrival. She was staying at the Metropole - kindly organised by ref:Shaun - so popped down to see her in the afternoon and went shopping for a very swanky answerphone and cordless system with two handsets. Birthdays are fun! Then back home to find Adam and rush off to meet people at Browns for birthday drinks. Steak. Chips. Chianti. More Chianti. Veuve. More Chianti. Etc. Finished up and wandered off to drop Mum and Andy at the tube and then we went off to the Swan where Owen was meeting a lovely pastry chef called Kieran, who we all chatted to. Adam got pissed and fell off the stage and spent the rest of the evening with an icepack on his back. Drag act called Dolly Rocket was on. Unmitigated shite. Ah well. Snuck 2x Newcastle Brown out in Adam’s back pockets (*snigger*) and went home where Danny coded like a bastard and Adam attempted not to vomit anywhere. Up earlyish Sunday Sat online doing very little. Monday. The day of the birthday. Again did very little until the evening, when I decided that moping on my birthday was a bad thing and I should go for a drink. Oh yes. Clever me! Went to Retro where I bumped into a slightly sozzled olliecook - he bought me a couple of drinks, then we headed off to 79CXR for more. Managed to get a table on account of someone trying to glass someone else...wiped glass off the seat/table and sat down for more beer. Bumped into a fab drunken northern woman called Fran - reminded me entirely of the female Lister in Red Dwarf III and not in a bad way - and also bumped into an ex called Kan whom I’ve not seen in about 4 years. Ollie left, I ended up staying until the bitter end drinking with Kan’s ex - then home in a cab that I don’t really remember. Tuesday .. Well...I woke up, brushed my hand over my face and went “Ow” at around the same time I noticed a huge lump and gash on my forehead. I still have no idea where that came from. Other than that I had a jolly hangover and did fuck all apart from be annoying at people online. Result! Wednesday I got up fairly early and sat online a bit. Tidied a bit too. Chatted a bit to Adam who’d reappeared at some point on Tuesday. Bought two fallicly named pizzas, one each. “Bulk Meat” and “Hot Meat”. Ate about 2 slices of my Hot Meat before dying and giving up on it even with pints of water. Watched some of Dune with Adam. William’s houseboy Gaz came over for photos. They came out really well and all the scary old men seem to love them, which is lovely...earlyish to bed. Thursday I had to be up early for Dulux launch photoshoot. Felt shite and fluey, so don’t know if I made a good impression on Richard - pics came out ok though I think - still waiting to hear back from them about which they like... Back home by lunch and I’m getting complemented by all the scary old men about Gaz’s photos which was fun...found Mark on gaydar so got him to join here (glasshouse). Felt crappy so did a couple of little tidies up of code here and there on the site then went to bed. Friday was dull...so did bugger all and then went to Retro for about 9ish - tried to get Dominic to come too but he wouldn’t...bah. Met up with Owen and Danny and that lot. Was Ollie’s birthday so him an Adam were meant to be having a cozy<
