Watched Voyager by accident yesterday. EW. WHY WHY WHY did anyone ever like this series? Spent a while moaning at everyone yesterday. Didn’t really make me feel better. Think I should get a basket of small helpless kittens to crush the life out of when I have days like yesterday. And yeah I know why I felt the way I did and yeah, it wasn’t a big deal, but dealing with it in my brain is tricky. <> snigger. No-one believes me that the iPhone is rubbish. I have come to the conclusion that Apple are the Bang and Olufsen of the computer industry. Do things fairly well, make fairly solid kit, but don’t by any stretch of the imagination do the best of anything, even though their officianados claim they do. Convergence is upon us, with devices being created smaller and smaller with more and more features. The OSes will need to catch up soon. We have the new mobile OSX with whatever sits on top of it (it’s not Rhapsody/Cocoa/etc, but something engineered to look similar, it won’t have the same UI smoothness as this is too much of a CPU hog). We have the linux version of PalmOS about to hit us. We have the Internet Tablet OS 2007 - a linux based OS powering the latest Nokia stuff, and we have Symbian. Oh, and PocketPC, which is a bit rubbish. Those that are open will win the war, because about a year after each is on their respective hardware they’ll be copying each other’s functionality. Linux rules. We’re going to collapse under the weight of our own consumerism soon. Remind me to stop caring about gadgets at some point? Work was slow and painful. Dealing with licenses for all the 3rd party software we use throughout the app. Icky. That and some VXML bugs. Chatted to some bloke at Three to find out what was broken with their routing and mobile.freakcity.net — he tried to determine if it was my handset, I pointed out that Lloyd can’t get it either so it’s not. He ummed and arred a bit. I tried (again) pointing out that it was probably their DNS server being rubbish as the IP addy has changed, but I don’t think he quite got that. He took Lloyd’s number too, so he could compare our three services. Spending 30 minutes on hold to India is not good. Not good at all. Home via the clap clinic for my annual checkup. Still not dying of anything, sorry youse lot. Was bored waiting for results, tried to IRC but it appears in trying to work out what’s wrong with mobile.freakcity.net they’ve hosed my IRC access too. Gah! My UPS arrived. Apparently the deliveryboy was hot. Mogs forgot to sex him to find out if he was hung. Oh well...We watched some AbFab. Was fun. Sal popped in and said hello, bed at 1ish. Urg. Must stop doing that on work nights. Texted Chris to see if he was available for a late night call. “Not remotely. I’m in a massive club now pumping my willy. Text me the info tho x x x x x” — he’s a strange boy... Supposedly I’m doing Halfway tonight with João, but he’s not yet woken up so I can’t ask him. Merple. Should be a giggle, and it’ll save me having to cycle home in this horrible weather. Making a not-rain bubble takes up so much effort... : P Ooh. João just woke up. Time to plan tonight ; )
