Gorjus

Took some stunning piccies this morning on the way to work after noticing that the sun shining through the mist yesterday was gorjus. Bored. Sat at work drinking FullFatSuicideCoke(TM) as they’ve run out of diet. I’m gonna get fat again ; ) Might be doing pics of pretty things tonight, might not. Might be going out for drinkies with mogwai, might not. Not sure what I’m doing yet. Spent the last few days working hard and fiddling with stuff. Thinking about buying a new camera as I’ve had a fairly well-off month this month.

Burbles

Tuesday November 25th, 2003 at 12:27am

Well. I seem to have become sidetracked by the wonders of my brain. Or something. Bah. I have no idea what to write, I just reckon I should write something as everyone else seems to be blogging away and I’m not : D Dull weekend. Not much done. Dull week so far. Project managers believed the business analysts when they said they were all waiting on me. Obviously beyond business analysts to check email without prompting. Must remember to rectify this ; ) Was all rainy yesterday, ended up having to cycle through bits of overfilled river to get home, in the dark. Scary stuff. Bought a new bike light, but it’s crap and doesn’t work right. I really think I should stop buying things from Halfords, they all break. Missed the train last night so hung about at the station eating fish and chips for another half hour to discover the train was late. The one I missed was on time. Bastards! Got off the train at Clapham Junction for no apparent reason, wandered about a bit, got back on the train again. Cycled to Retro from Waterloo to visit Danny and William, Duyshan was there too, which was nice, not seen him in ages! William seemed to think my bike light was actually a mobile phone with a light on. Danny was drunk. William was drunk. I drank water coz I was cycling. Gossipped about money (for a change) and sipped more water. Watched William and Wendy do a tit-for-tat mini bitchathon which was mildly entertaining for a while. Gave up giving up smoking *again* and had my first fag since Friday : ( Got home and WIPED the POS that is Win2003 Server as it wouldn’t work right and was slow and crap. Reinstalled 2k and now Exchange won’t work. Hmph. I shall beat it some more later this evening ; ) Sleepy today. Need to sleep more tonight I think. James is up before noon 2 days in a row! What’s up with that?

Does God drive for the AA?

Monday November 17th, 2003 at 10:35am

Looong weekend. Firstly I wrote the messagecentre, which I’m very very proud of (sad, I know) because it looks and feels pretty much like an email client and is quite lovely ; ) - Got in Friday at 7pm and finished coding at 4am - still had to tweak bits on the Saturday but other than that it was all cool! Having done litte else other than code like a bastard on Saturday and play around online, I decided to go out. My bank balance however had different ideas. I was a bit pissed off, as Drew was going to XXL and had informed me that it was shagtags - always entertaining! Grumbled a bit online before actually checking my wallet and finding £10 in it. So, armed with this and the knowledge that XXL now accept creditcards I wandered off to find a bus. Arrived at XXL at a little after 11pm, somewhat shocked and amazed by the size of the queue. Thank fuck I renewed my membership the week before, as the members queue was only 5 people long... LOADS of people there. Not helped by the DJ playing shite at the start of the evening, as it meant the two bars were packed and the dancefloor was empty. Wandered about a bit, recognised no-one at all...sat in the garden some, but it was a little chilly, but the rest of the place was still too packed so I ended up back there again and again throughout the evening. Drew arrived, Daz in tow...Drew was looking like shit (bless) as he’d been out the night before and hadn’t slept at all - he’d also just been dumped by the guy he was meant to be meeting at XXL and then that guy had decided to get off with someone else in front of him, which wasn’t very friendly : ( So we chatted some, then wandered off and collapsed into one of the huge sofas that have been strategically installed all over the club. Daz sipping Red Bull and munching crisps, Drew snorting poppers, me sipping bitter. Got a cashback, egg kindly let me have £20. Drew bought me a drink too. Got no messages on the slag tag board. I guess I’m just not gorgeous enough. Wandered about some, Drew by this point was high on poppers and gin and flailing his arms about on the stage at the end of the dancefloor, with Daz peeling bears off him from time to time. Kinda surreal really - suspected that Daz was jealous of Drew and other blokes, but it turns out that Daz has a boyfriend who was there too, so I have no idea what the fuck was going on there. I elected to just not pay attention. Drew had brought a mate called Abdul in from work and was showing him as much gay life as possible (or something), and so he was wandering about in the darkroom for most of the evening... I went to get more cashback on my card, but the barman buggered it up by forgetting the cashback and then cancelling the transaction incorrectly (pressing the “signature doesn’t match” button or something) which lead to me not being able to use the card, as when he put the payment through again with the £10 cashback it didn’t work. So he gave me a pint free : D I was being good tho, no repeat performance of last week’s alcohol induced shenanigans - I paced myself well and still wasn’t very pissed come 4am, which was quite impressive considering I’m me ; ) Daz left, Drew went to hoist Abdul out of the darkroom, and then he took us to Chariots IV, which was interesting. He got us a lift there with another bloke who’s name I didn’t catch. I was directing us. Woops. I’m crap at directions at the best of time, but when I’m a) half pissed and b) taking us somewhere I’ve only ever cycled to it’s somewhat amusing. I’d not realised how much of an arse the one way system is round my part of London, most of it is two way for cycles! I’ve never been to that kind of sauna before...it was seedy in bits, as I expected, but in other bits it was just like a health club is meant to be : ) Sat in the steam room a bit, but it was much too hot, went and jacuzzied for a time too, which was nice. They were playing Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in the<

I’m back in a field.

Wednesday November 12th, 2003 at 14:16pm

So...I have this job, right, that requires me to work in a converted farmhouse in the middle of Surrey...right? Sounds dead romantic. I’m sure it would be in the summer. But it’s WINTER dammit! Another wet morning. Less mud all over me, more mud all over my waterproofs, so I can’t complain, however I’ve been working from home the last few days (where I have a fast PC that’s not my laptop) and got urgently called in today to be left hanging about most of the morning because they’ve not finalised what it is they want me to do. I should charge waiting time. Still, at least I got paid for it ; ) Rewrote the whole forums thing on the site last night. Man I’m not gonna do that again in a hurry. What was I thinking, writing it like that! It’s a mess of if and while statements perilously held together by dodgy sql ; ) Kinda works now. Works better in Moz as IE does strange things to the querystring, but hey... Possibly going to see the Matrix tonight. Yay!

Woo!

Thought (for a laugh) I’d get on the scales last night. I’ve lost half a stone in a week and a bit! Holy crap! I’ll be looking like Owen soon : D Went out last night with Gaz to visit the amazing White Swan and the incredible Trollette and Springs. Incredible how people that old can manage to stand up in those shoes... Oopsie. Drank a *touch* too much ; ) Came back to the flat and smoked lots of naughty cigarettes and then watched FireFly lots and lots

Ho hum and tum te tum

Thursday November 6th, 2003 at 16:21pm

So...out of work again, bumming about and getting paid for it. Dammit, I wish they’d get their act together! It’s so dull being in the office with nothing to do but having to be here...I’d much rather be at home, but hey. That’s life... *sigh* Maybe I’ll attempt to work from home tomorrow...

hi speed browsing

Wednesday November 5th, 2003 at 13:01pm

Cor. This Mozilla 1.6a is pretty damn nippy ; ) Less mud today, which is somewhat refreshing as I was bored of pulling it off my trousers/bike/hair/etc Gorgeously sunny too - even though the clouds on the horizon are black and have been all day so far... Stupid man up crane appears to have been joined by more flag wielders. Tower Bridge is now open again though, which begs the question “why close it in the first place?” God only knows. I do know that there are men out there who can’t see their daughters ever again because they have been blown apart by our guns/tanks/missiles. Personally, I’d prefer a protest about that... I somehow doubt that’d be allowed to close Tower Bridge for 3 days though...

Hello and welcome to the journal

Monday November 3rd, 2003 at 11:47am

Bleh. So fucking windy and wet and horrible. Plus, some inconsiderate sonofabitch has gaffertaped himself to Tower Bridge to protest at the terrible clothes his ex wife makes his daughters wear. Or something. Maybe he was crap at putting up shelves when they were married and she divorced him or something. So there’s me, wanting to go to work over Tower Bridge, and no! Not allowed. Police do not cross line tape everywhere. Bah. In other news, my last hope of gaining notoriety, fame and fortune has been dashed as Karl Heinz Hille has been crowned “World Beard and Moustache Champion”. Obviously they didn’t like my minimalist style. Hmph. Can’t find anything in the news about Mr Tower Bridge...tho “A woman who hid behind her boyfriend’s articulated lorry so she could jump out and surprise him has been taken to hospital after he reversed over her.” had me in stitches. Oops, I’m sure I’m not meant to laugh at things like that ; ) Dammit. I have an extra two miles to cycle tonight if it’s not open : ’(
