Musings on a world I am no longer sure about
Bathing one’s MacBook Pro
Back from the deid On Monday, this MacBook was dropped in the bath whilst on. Today it works again. It’s testament to the idea of letting damp electronic devices dry out.
To be honest I wasn’t expecting it to work at all, it’d been left to dry since Monday (no battery in it, no power attached) and I got no life from it at all when I plugged it in. I left it in the airing cupboard a bit longer and tried again, still no luck.
Took the bottom off the laptop and it was still damp inside, so I mopped it up with a bit of tissue and left it in the airing cupboard a little longer.
Next time I plugged it in I noticed that the fans started up. Put it back together again and got an apple logo on the screen
It froze, mid boot. Put it in the airing cupboard a bit longer still, then the next time I tried it I got the login screen.
OK, so there’s a bit of water still in the display, but it’s useable, sound is OK, DVD drive isn’t working, but everything else is there.
Anyone any ideas about replacement DVD drives for Unibody MacBook Pros?
Today I feel lucky.
