Weekend in Berlin with Liam was ace. IT’s been gorgeous weather here, got up to 25ºC on Saturday...was lovely! We went out to Lentz for dinner on Friday night, both had the most amazingly huge steaks and ended up rolling down the road to the station for some blond beer in Blond. Talked about everything from scary past stuff to the merits of wheat beer and bemoaned the fact there isn’t anywhere like Blond in London. You sit down, a nice young man asks you what you want and beer appears. Reasonably priced beer too. And bar snacks. And a free jukebox with occasional karaoke. It’s quite fun ; ) Staggered home at silly o’clock in the morning and fell into bed. Managed to get up earlyish on Saturday, at which point I cruelly subjected Liam to bright sunlight and we went for a wander around Berlin. Brunch was in order at the outrageously good Dolores off Alexanderplatz and then we did a bit of clothes shopping. Bought vile shorts and a tshirt. No-one’s complained about me being orange yet, so I’m guessing it’s ok... Wandered off to Spandau in the afternoon. Couldn’t find any ballet. Hmph. Did however find thousands of German football fans were going in the same direction as us to Olympiastadion. Urgh. Tho they seemed better behaved and more mixed sex than their English counterparts, which was interesting. Wandered round the river in Spandau a bit then headed home. Cooked stirfry and then popped down to Nollendorfplatz for coffee and a wander about. Early to bed. Sunday was even more wandering. Went and looked through the bars at the remains of a Franciscan monastery near Alexanderplatz. Accidentally fell over some kind of marathon, which was intriguing. Tried to find a fleamarket and failed. Walked through the Tiergarten, coincidentally (cough) finding the cruising area, where we got stared at by strange people. Decided to have dinner in Villa Rodizio, I’d previously sold it on the Rodizio, an all you can eat buffet with freshly cooked meats on metre long skewers carved onto your plate every 10 minutes or so. We opted for the slightly cheaper version (without the meat) and ate far far too much. Dollhouse and an early night, once more. Feel refreshed slightly ; ) Dollhouse has been getting really quite good of late. less focus on Dushku and more on the other dolls and the story has meant for a better TV show. Makes me happy : )
