Musings on a world I am no longer sure about

The smallest things But to me they are weights I know not why I ought to try Not to care But they are there In my mind Spinning The biggest things Give me no reason To care what they think They just are Immutable I look to the sky I feel myself die A little inside Life was once A sea on which I sailed I am sinking down down I fall beneath the waves Of doubt Fear Maybe someone should just throw me a ring? So I’ve been hacked, freakcity has been sql injected, I’ve attended a barbecue, I’ve watched some Doctor Who, I’ve had to do a 7am deployment, I’ve torn a tyre and replaced it, I’ve given up hassling TJ about the washing up and consequently now live in a shithole, I’ve been out, I’ve been unofficially offered Amsterdam, I’ve watched Sweeney Todd, been clubbing twice, not been on call at all, planned and executed the first stage of my take over of North Norfolk, eaten a lot of PIE and been to Brighton at least once between now and when we last talked. Dear Faithful Reader, how will you forgive me? Freakcity’s a bit more hardy after I tinkered under the hood a bit to solve the hacking/sql injection issue - it’s quite a nifty hack, uses a built in SQL server function to translate a string of byte code characters into sql that is then executed. Unfortunately for the hackers, when I originally wrote the site I expressely put in filters to stop HTML appearing on the pages, so the upshot of it is that there’s a few forum titles that are a little broken and this is all. Went to Brighton with Ben and Ali to meet Taha and Mozquiff. Managed to meet Taha and David who are lovely. Failed to meet Mr Mozquiff coz he fell asleep after a particularly stressful sitar recital. I kid you not. Camping at the weekend. Sorry bout the rain, but I need it to be sunny on Thursday. Must remember to post my NSLU2 and pack for camping. OSX hasn’t really annoyed me much yet, just irritated about all the little useful things Vista does that OSX doesn’t. It really is loads simpler, but that makes it irritating in certain respects...like the difference between RISC and CISC - it does some things very well but then you spend twice as long doing all the other things because they don’t all Just Work™ like they do on Vista. Suspecting I may need a new phone battery soon, mine seems to be holding fuck all charge of late. Irritating. So my quandry is do I fix my life and remove the need for my alcoholic crutch or simply carry on as things are and hope they get better on their own? < /emoblog>
