Musings on a world I am no longer sure about

""My trip to Asia begins here in Japan for an important reason. It begins here because, for a century and a half now, America and Japan have formed one of the great and enduring alliances of modern times. From that alliance has come an era of peace in the Pacific"" /[r[-- George W Bush, Tokyo, Feb 18th 2002]r]/

Strange day
Dreamt of buying a really old electric panel in a suitcase. Argued about delivery then decided to carry it home anyway.
Woke up having relearnt to play Roads by Portishead. Weird shit. This led me to iTunes for a Portisheadathon and now I own Roseland NYC too. And Roads by My Dying Bride. And a few other Portishead covers too.
Got delayed by the DLR, sidetracked by random stuff at work and then spent the morning wading through old code to make stuff work in Firefox that didn’t work centuries ago but does now. Fixed all the issues in layout and added stuff to my merged codebase to find that the basket doesn’t work any more. You win some, you lose some. Bah.
I need more sleep. Much more sleep.
I’m credit card free. It’s weird. I knew I’d racked up a lot of debt and I’ve been slowly paying it off, but I had no idea quite how much...so when I added it up I was left with a scared mouse called Scott inside of me. I’ve taken on a hugenormous loan to enable me to do this:
Whee! Which looked kinda pretty until I chucked it in the bin
Tonight it’s Winj’s thing at the George, but I’m staying late(ish) at work to finish off some other stuff.
No cards so far. Mind you, I’ve not sent any either. Briefly toyed with the idea of popping to Liam’s after work whilst he is out and dropping one off for him but I think I’ll wait until I see him at the weekend.
Today I’ve mostly been listening to Portishead and ancient 80s tracks (The Beloved! Sweet Harmony!).

I see...
"" I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. Corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow and the money power of the country will endeavour to prolong its reign by working on the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed "" [r[ -- Abraham Lincoln 1864 ]r]

Speak your brain
Theory. Man is sentient because cooked meats have altered proteins which had an unexpected side effect 500,000 years ago. Proof: vegetarians.
Theory. God is imaginary because man has an imagination and fear of the unknown and is ultimately a herd animal that wants to be absolved responsibility for his own life
Proof: the army
I am bored. I need something interesting to do that isn’t just work and/or bars. I have things I need to do, like this thing and other things, but I just can’t get my head around doing any of them at the moment on account of the terrible amount of work I have to do. I should really break it down I think and do a bit at a time, but at the moment it’s this huge insurmountable lump in front of me.
XXLd at the weekend, was a weird night with everyone having more fun than me and me just wanting to get drunk. Damn weirdnesses. Family are being all strange at me, not sure if I should be involved or not, maybe I’ll chat to mother and see what she thinks.
Orange’s limited time offers stuff got horrendously complicated too, making my brain hurt a bit. I’m still not convinced I’ve done it the right way, but at least it’s maintainable for now.
Sunin was here for the weekend, amongst other things we discovered that almost the entirety of West Ham’s supporters are fucking hideous and that driving through West Ham when they’re all leaving Upton Park is probably a mistake. Not a single one of them looked anything like Charlie Hunnam and we saw no fighting at all on Green Street. Bah.
Delivered plasma panel and DVD player and surround system to Owen — he’s buggered off to Wales as his Nain is ill
Disconnections. Confusement. I feel set adrift and I need a rudder. Maybe I should come up with even more clichés? Mind you, I’ve not cycled since Friday, that might account for feelings of general crapness. Still need to get a new front brake — not really up for carefully cycling through fog when unable to stop correctly.
Need to do some more photography. Where can I buy carved wooden bowls from?
