Musings on a world I am no longer sure about

the liver embraces it

Spent some time yesterday admiring my brand new puncture. I’d had the bike less than 24 hours before the lovely kevlar strips in my tyres proved their absolute and complete uselessness and a screw went straight through my tyre and flattened my innertube. And not any screw, a 3 inch whopper of a screw that caused my bike to rattle like I’d added demented spokey dokeys to my wheels, basically scaring the shit out of me until I stopped and worked out what’d happened. It also shat it down. And after my amazing freewheel experience the other weekend I’d forgotten to pop a new innertube in my bag. Plus, Liam was on his way over and I was 4 miles from home. How amazing is my luck? I got the tyre off, found the puncture, patched it and got the bike all back together again in about 10 minutes flat though, which I thought was pretty damn good going though. Arrived home in time to realise Lloyd had already arrived. Lent him my old phone, as apparently his aunt had dropped his one in water. Got out of my wet clothes and spread dinner around on the floor just as Liam arrived. Opened the door... “Now that’s the kind of welcome I like” he says, looking me up and down. Heh. I ran off and put some shorts on over my boxers and set about constructing stirfry out of ingredients. New DVDs I’ve had arrive in the last few days: Starchaser: The Legend of Orin — very strange cartoon from 1985 that made me all wistful and reminiscent. More of this in a mo. Crusade — now all I’m missing is the Legend of the Rangers Party Monster : D X Men 3 Children of Men Dancer in the Dark New CDs: iLiKETRAiNS - Elegies to Lessons Learnt Hans Zimmer - Hannibal OST I also received Volume 5 of the Babylon 5 scripts. Which was annoying as I’d ordered Volume 12. Mailed Cafépress about it and got a reply within an hour telling me they’d sent the right one free of charge/postage. So Owen gets the old one ; ) Having created dinner, we settled down to watch Starchaser, I warned Liam that I’d not seen it in yeeeears and it was probably way crappier than my 11yr old mind had remembered. Duly noted we set about sniggering rather a lot at much of it. And in a good way, I think. There was swearing, sexism, rape allegories and gay jokes. What more could a man want? Chris phoned halfway through to apologise for having forgotten my birthday. He sounded so sad about it. Bah. I shall hug him soon. Followed up Silly 80s DVD with some Time Trumpet, which had us giggling rather too much. I hope they do another season. Flikk is about to embark on a career as a philatelist! Shocking! Very much suits him though — I can imagine him, shiny leather elbows on a tweed coat, magnifying glass in hand. Possibly with a small moustache, being smug and eccentric at everyone. Long day today. And it’s only 2pm. Bah. Sometimes life sucks. No punctures yet so far. Or rain. which is nice. Tonight I’m going to tidy stuff I think. And bitch about the nonexistant aircon today. As I am melting, and a fat man melting is unpleasant to watch. Or something.
