""So, like first thing, I made some toast, and it burned, as black as my soul, and I was so bummed that my tears of despair fell like cold bits of crystal, to be destroyed on the unforgiving rocks of this miserable life. But then I saw that Mom had left a twenty out on the counter. . . ."" You Suck: A love story

MAHOOSIVE Blogness

Tuesday January 30th, 2007 at 12:14am

+Monday+ was the last time I blogged. Oopsie. Well, last week I resigned. That was the biggie. Thursday. They were good about it and told me that they were sad and wished they could offer what my new job is going to in terms of exposure and career progression but understood that they couldn’t. They also said that they were very very happy with my work and wouldn happily work with me again if it didn’t work out at the new place. “Move heaven and earth to have you back” were words used. Made me feel all fluffy, even though I was feeling immensely icky and stuff. Chris and Matt arrived Thursday evening, we rushed off to watch the incomparable Jimmy Trollette singing very very very old songs at us at the Swan and then came home via the dodgy offy at 2am and a few beers. I think we watched some telly but don’t really remember. TJ was watching something about trees or something. I lose track. Maybe it was that. IT’S MY AGE I TELLS YOUSE. Phoned in sick on Friday, because I actually wasn’t feeling too hot. Chilled out at home some. Went to Wings Buffet for all-you-can-eat goodness and then wandered home via canary wharf and Waitrose for breakfast supplies for Saturday. Bought duck eggs. And a small vibrating plastic thing that lights up for massaging backs. Headed home via the library, which was closed. Bah. No printing. Headed back out again after showers and stuff, up to Retro. Bumped into Casp and Marcus. Had a drink. Wandered off to a net café to print free flyers and then got the bus to Kings Cross. Bought a 6" sub with hot meat and green chili peppers in it. Queued for weeks outside of Popstarz in the cold. Threw mayo ALL down my front and then ate two whole chilis and almost died. Got into Popstarz, felt a bit odd, last time I was there was with James — the time he basically had a go at me for being so old and making him feel so embarassed when dancing with him there. Bumped into some bloke who claimed I pulled him on gaydar, which was somewhat bizarre as I have no recollection of that ever happening. Bumped into loads of other people including Lexi and John (who I think bought the Hammersmith Palais or something? It was loud and he was talking about his club being torn down...oddness!). Richard was there, completely plastered. We got right up to the front and then stuck ourselves there. Waited for an hour an a half, without moving. Was amazing. Got some good photos out of my shitty old k800i camera and also got a rosette. Chris got a setlist. Mika got a transformer, so everyone was a winner. bumped into Lloyd and Daz as well as Mika himself and Dan Gillespie Sells upstairs afterwards. Chris shook Mika’s hand and said hello to Dan, and then we pondered Dan’s revelation in Boyz about him just starting out dating someone and them both being there together. Can’t really imagine Kylie bopping away at GAY after doing a PA. Amazing... Headed off at about 3, failed miserably to get a taxi so after an hour or so of freezing our tits off we got a bus to Liverpool St and then walked to Aldgate where we found a cab. Home at about 5am. Up at 12ish on Saturday. Cooked brekkie for everyone. Eventually left the flat after flapping about and wandered to Canary Wharf where we took some photos and then got the river boat to the Savoy. Zooming along the Thames in the dark is fun ; ) Headed to Ku for cocktails, but the jugs were expensive and not very nice, so left again. Went to the cake shop and bought lots of stuff then Pizza Express for dinner. Headed back home on the bus where I introduced them both to Carnivàle before taking them both to XXL to scare the pants off of them. Took Chris about 5 seconds to dislike David, who we bumped into just after arriving, which was funny. Bumped into Lloyd and his friend I
