Stocks and shares

Wednesday February 16th, 2011 at 12:01am

As I was underwhelmed by Nokia’s decision to partner with Microsoft, I thought I’d buy some shares in them so I can (sorta) have a say in their future.

I rather liked the idea of nokiaplanb.com — Windows Mobile 7 is based on WinCE. IE7. Nuff said...

I quite like Nokia (aside from having worked in their offices for a time) and have always rooted for them. Without them we’d never have had predictive text, colour screens, full keyboards, that kinda thing on mobiles.  The amount of patents that Apple are not paying them royalties for should give you an idea.

Partnering with Microsoft to become another HTC isn’t the best idea they’ve ever had. HTC are already there and make some nice hardware. This makes me sad : (

So I bought some shares. And some shares in someone else. And now my money is worth 20% less than it was yesterday. So, Nokia, please do something exciting soon, I want some money back = )

In other news — touch version of freakcity is almost done, mobile.freakcity.net still exists for crappy handsets and (excitement) I’m going to be launching a freakcity local thingy quite soon.

And then we have the Virtual Box of Flyers Android (and hopefully iOS) app... : )
